My name is Stephanie Merrigan and I am 27 years old. I am currently residing in South Korea and grew up here most of my life. I was born to a Korean mother and an American, U.S. military father to which I am very thankful for. It allowed me to grow up with two very different cultures and languages to which it has garnered my open-mindedness and respect for other cultures and adaptability to new environments.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in International business from Washington State University and am working towards my Master’s Degree in Project Management. I have 5 more classes to go until I earn my degree and expect to finish this fall. I cannot wait to be done with this program and enjoy some of my free time and travel.
In regards to my work experience, I have taught English to Korean students for a few years and worked as a curriculum developer for a Korean English academy. I created educational content such as English textbooks, games, workbooks, exams as well as various programs to help Korean students enhance their English at all levels. My job satisfaction came from seeing programs or materials that I developed being implemented into classrooms and watching kids enjoy them. One day I hope to publish children books of my own. Currently, I work as a paralegal for the U.S. Air Force and am building my knowledge and experience to become a project manager for a U.S. government contractor.
On my free time, I enjoy cooking, going to the gym, hiking on the weekends, watch movies, and travel whenever I have the opportunity. As South Korea is surrounded by many countries, traveling is very affordable so I make sure to take advantage of it. So far I have been to the Philippines, Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia. My most recent trip was to Bali, Indonesia in 2014 and I had an amazing time. Upon completing my Master’s program, I plan on rewarding myself to another trip. I am trying to decide between Vietnam or Australia. Has anyone been to either of these countries? If so, I would appreciate if you can make some recommendations or share experiences and thoughts.
This is a picture of Kuta Beach in Bali, Indonesia. As you can see, a lot of people come to this beach to enjoy recreational sports.

I really enjoy cooking a nice meal when I have time–blooming onion bread and lemon/butter cream chicken. I eat rice with anything and everything 🙂
I am very excited about this E-Commerce class as the format is quite different from other classes I have taken with Boston University. I wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to engaging with you through our assignments and discussions. Happy 2016! 🙂
